DALLY IN THE ALLEY

Dally is about artists and their identity, I channeled this Dally energy and was able to connect and have a little extra fun making this. I designed posters for "Dally in the Alley," a vibrant Michigan event that I personally enjoyed. Inspired by the festival’s dynamic energy, I created posters that reflect its artistic spirit and community impact. My research revealed that proceeds from the event support Detroit’s revitalization, including street and building repairs, which deepened my appreciation for the festival. These posters were aimed at creating vibrant and engaging posters for the annual "Dally in the Alley" event in Detroit, targeting local residents and festival-goers who appreciate community-driven art and local culture. I chose to highlight the cat because when you're in the alley, you're an alley cat, looking into all the things. The booths and posters are divided by religion, fashion, collector's items, LGBTQ, and more. The one thing about Dally is that you can't walk away without supporting someone or something. The art you buy, the beer you drink, the time you give!

Process

I learned I learned how to effectively convey the spirit and social impact of a community event through visual design while also adding my own personal creativity and insight. If I were to change one thing about these compositions, I'd add some more structure to support the small items I drew in the poster so there’s more clarification. This project was aimed at creating vibrant and engaging posters for the annual "Dally in the Alley" event in Detroit, targeting local residents and festival-goers who appreciate community-driven art and local culture.

LIZZY STAPLETON

GROWTH is funny—positive, negative, backward, or forward. Whatever the case, it should be welcomed. Life has taught me many things, and Art has allowed me to remember, personify, and document my journey as a person and artist.
