GROWTH

This is my manifesto for my senior year at the College for Creative Studies; I decided to paint a mural that shows elements of my rules for art and living. This art style is one that I have grown and dedicated myself to; I use it to personify my life and emotions. This mural took me 15 hours, hours which were filled with creating symbolic elements that best explained my rules.  1. Grow with your art, not apart - Grow with your art, not apart. Keep loving, learning, and evolving. 2. If nothing else works, be open-minded  3. Create a concept for yourself, 4. Revert

5. Listen to your gut, 6. Never let someone tell you you can't - there's no better way to say it, Show everyone who said you couldn't and show yourself (most importantly) why you had to do it! Art is essential, but so is expressing yourself and living a life of open-mindedness. If you love something, go after it. Don’t waste too many days in sadness—just a few here and there but always find a way to encourage yourself back up!  My mural is about the hard work it takes to try something new, to see the world differently, and to grow as a person. Change starts now. Ask yourself: How do you want to perceive life?

Process - Video

This process was out of my norm! Which was good in theory, but I did have a few production bumps along the way. There's a lot to think about when doing an unfamiliar art form. While I was painting and doing that comfortably, I also decided to record myself. My issues began when my carera started to show its age. My settings were out of date, and I just couldn't seem to figure out how to make some footage focused, my camera and I were not the best of friends. These incidents led me to learn to edit videos and not just cut. I used Premiere Pro and some AI to help my rough film look a little more focused.

GROWTH is funny—positive, negative, backward, or forward. Whatever the case, it should be welcomed. Life has taught me many things, and Art has allowed me to remember, personify, and document my journey as a person and artist.
